An Evening at Japan House, London: Exploring Japanese Culture in Kensington

Our visit to Japan House in London was an enriching cultural experience, conveniently located just a short stroll from High Street Kensington station. Japan House offers a captivating slice of Japanese culture in the heart of London, and on our visit, we were especially drawn to their replica food display exhibition. It was fascinating to learn about the intricate art of creating realistic food replicas, an art form unique to Japan, often used to display dishes outside restaurants. This interactive exhibition even included a section where children could make their own bento boxes, making it a delightful activity for families.

To fuel up, we stopped by the counter for a matcha latte, which was exceptional—rich, smooth, and a wonderful way to unwind. Japan House also has a small selection of authentic Japanese goods for sale, from ceramics to teas, allowing you to bring a touch of Japan home with you.

Though they have an in-house restaurant, it looked a bit too upscale for what we were after that evening. Instead, we took a leisurely 10-minute walk to Shoryu Ramen for a more casual dining experience. Shoryu’s ambiance and delicious bowls of ramen made it the perfect end to our evening of Japanese exploration.

Japan House is a must-visit if you’re in the area, offering everything from cultural exhibitions to authentic Japanese tastes. A perfect outing for anyone interested in Japan or simply looking to experience something new in London!
