A Day Out at We The Curious, Bristol: Interactive Learning and Fun for All Ages

After eagerly waiting to visit We The Curious in Bristol, which had been closed for quite some time due to a fire, we were thrilled to finally step in and explore this interactive science and arts center. The exhibits are designed to engage children in hands-on learning, making it a fantastic day out, especially for curious minds.

Interactive Exhibits Galore

If you’re familiar with the Science Museum in London, some of the installations at We The Curious will feel familiar—encouraging kids to learn through interaction and creativity. The first floor is packed with installations and an activity area aimed at younger kids under eight. One of the big hits was the bubble installation, where kids can create giant bubbles, pop them, and learn about the science of surface tension along the way.

The entry fee at We The Curious is higher than what you’d pay at the Science Museum in London (which is free), but given the range and depth of exhibits tailored for kids, it’s definitely worth it for a day of engaging fun.

Planetarium Experience

We added tickets for the planetarium show, which was well worth it. They offer different shows based on age groups, making it accessible for various stages of curiosity. We chose a show designed for around age ten, which was entertaining and informative, though older kids’ shows seemed more detailed and perhaps even more captivating for budding astronomers. It had been ages since we’d seen a planetarium show, and it was such a unique way to see the universe come alive.

Lunch at the Cargo Containers

With time to spare before our planetarium session, we headed out to the nearby Cargo containers for lunch. The area is packed with a variety of food stalls, ensuring there’s something for every taste. It’s an excellent choice over the museum café if you’re looking for something a bit more exciting or varied, with options from around the world, all in a lively, open-air setup.

We The Curious is an immersive experience that combines science, art, and fun in a highly interactive setting. Perfect for families, it’s one of those places where you can let the kids explore freely, knowing they’re learning and engaged. And with options like the Cargo containers nearby, it makes for a full day out in one of Bristol’s most family-friendly attractions.
