One of the highlights for us was Zip World – a treetop adventure course nestled within the Brockhole grounds. Our daughter absolutely loved it! They have different levels based on age and confidence, so there’s something for everyone, from beginner to thrill-seeker.
If you’re planning to hire a boat or kayak to explore the lake, be sure to book in advance – slots can fill up quickly during weekends and school holidays.
Parking is available on-site, and there’s a café with a good selection of snacks, but you can also bring your own picnic and enjoy it by the water.

After a full morning at Brockhole, we made our way to nearby Ambleside, one of the most picturesque towns in the Lake District. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon, with plenty of shops, cafés, and walks along the river.
We stopped at the popular Apple Pie Café, which more than lives up to its name. Their menu is ideal for a light lunch – think fresh sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and hearty soups. But the real star is, of course, their famous homemade apple pie. Don’t skip it!
